Dockium

Bills of lading, checked by text message, before the invoice goes out.

The product

Paperwork gets checked where the work happens — on a phone, in a truck.

Dockium is software that trucking dispatchers and carriers use to check their own shipping paperwork. A driver or office staffer photographs a bill of lading or equipment interchange receipt and texts it in. Dockium reads the document, checks the fields an invoice depends on — most importantly whether the consignee signature is present and legible — and texts back what it found.

A blank or illegible consignee signature is the single most common reason a freight invoice gets kicked back. Catching it while the driver is still at the dock costs a re-shoot. Catching it forty days later costs the load.

Dockium tells the dispatcher what it found and what it recommends. A person decides what happens next. It does not invent readings it cannot support: a photo too dark or blurred to judge gets a request for a better photo, never a confident guess.

Text it in

A photo of the BOL from any phone. No app to install, no portal to log into.

02

Signature, load number, dates and amounts, cross-checked against the rate confirmation when one is on file.

03

Answer by text

Clean and moving to invoicing, or flagged with the reason and a recommendation.

Text messages

What Dockium texts, to whom, and how to stop it.

Dockium messages the staff and authorized contacts at the businesses that use it, about shipments and invoices those businesses are directly involved in. Messages are transactional: a confirmation that a submitted shipping document was received and processed, and a status update when an invoice for a completed load is still outstanding. There is no marketing, and no messaging of anyone the subscribing business has not authorized.

Contacts opt in either verbally during an onboarding call or by texting START to the Dockium number, in both cases after the disclosures below are given. The two flows are documented word for word on the SMS opt-in page.

Company

Komorebi Labs, Inc. is an early-stage technology company based in the San Francisco Bay Area, building software for the freight back office. Dockium is its first product.

The company is named for 木漏れ日 — komorebi, the Japanese word for sunlight filtering through leaves. It describes the problem the software solves: recovering something clear and usable from a messy, partial signal. A bill of lading photographed on a dashboard in bad light is exactly that.
